The role of translator is building a peaceful country.

People on earth are divided by their cultures and languages. These cultures and languages are particular features that make us so different from each other. Speaking the same language can share our ideas and emotions. Various languages represent different cultures and ways of thinking. Some problems may occur due to these differences. When we share our ideas with a native person or non-native person, it may courses different vocabulary problems and grammatical spelling problems.

Translation is a kind of process that helps people to overcome such problems. When we translate a text, we transfer the meaning of a certain phrase or word. This means transfer from a source language to a target language. Translation is not only a theoretical subject but also something that is above the subject. I can say it is a skill that was given by god. Because everyone cannot translate. Translators from all over the world have been working on various streams.

Most of them think that a translator's role is to convert text from the source language into the target language. But when we go deeper into it, it is a miracle that a translator can do much more to this world. Translation is not only a profession but also a translator is an author, a key of multi-tasking and translation is as much an art as a science.

Translation is an art, because a translator can give lots of feelings. They can give life to inanimate things. A translator as an author he or she can do many things to the society or to the world because of their skills and vocabulary powers. As Sri Lankans we are well experienced with the war. The war is the most cruel thing in the world. As humans we afraid to hear the word ‘war’.

The role of a translator involves to make a peaceful country. Sri Lanka is a multi- ethnic, multi-religious country. So having translators is kind of a blessing to our country. Because they completely involve to make the peace of our country. Translators have different experiences about different streams. So a translator as an author, imagine that they can change not only a country but also the whole world with their experiences, ideas, and feelings
